The New York & Ogdensburg: Lite in and Ballast Out of Norwood Yard

On a Friday in late September we’re in Norwood, NY to catch the New York & Ogdensburg. Now owned by Vermont Rail System, the NY&OG operates on part of the former Rutland Railroad mainline to Ogdensburg, as well as the branch to Norfolk, where the railroad’s offices and shops are.

We would catch VTR 801, a GP18, running lite power into Norwood.

After picking up an ex-CN  ballast hopper, we would catch the 801 shoving north towards Norfolk.

Afterward we would find CSX M820 (Selkirk-Massena, alternate schedule) in Massena Yard.
