Building a Shelf Extension, Part 1: Preparing the area and building the shelf

Last weekend I moved my layout to a different location in my basement, which provided an opportunity to extend the layout along a wall.

The old and new track plans can be found here.

First, I fixed a buckling wall by putting screws into the studs. Then I attached the brackets that would hold the shelf up.

Next, I attached the board, and tested the track arrangements.

I will be going to the Clayton model train show this weekend, at which I should get some more track.NCT
